Last weekend I finally made it out to The Rusty Spur, the fun honky-tonk bar and diner I’ve heard so much about restaurant ‘The Rusty Spur kc ‘. It’s nestled right in the heart of downtown, and the atmosphere, with its live music and rustic charm, immediately makes you feel welcome. The menu and prices lean toward classic American comfort food—think burgers, fried chicken, and barbecue—at very reasonable prices.

I tried the best [dish/specialty] I could find on the diner menu: the Outlaw Burger, topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and Swiss cheese. For only $10.89, it was perfectly cooked and incredibly satisfying. Another popular choice, I noted in the 2025 reviews, seems to be the Chicken Strip Basket, an $8.49 steal.

The bar is a huge part of the experience. Their Daily Happy Hour is a real local secret, running from 11 am to 2 pm, offering $1 off all wells and domestic beers, and $4 Fireball shots. If you’re wondering is it worth a visit for the food alone, I'd say yes, but the live music and authentic country vibe are what truly set this place apart.

To make your trip easy, the address ‘1 SE 4th St, Lee's Summit, MO 64063 ‘ is right next to a public parking lot on 4th Street, which is another local secret. Skip the limited on-street parking and head straight for that lot; it’s a short walk and always has space.
